Tryouts for California Cheerleading!

The main purpose of the tryout is to select the best overall representatives of the University of California, Berkeley. This factor, as well as demonstrated technical skills, aids the coaches in choosing the best all-around members for the team.

All current squad members must tryout for each successive year in which they wish to participate. A squad of no more than 12 members will be selected for each season.

There are no fees required to participate Cal Cheerleading, however you will need to provide your own make-up & hair products. Uniforms, travel and other approved budgetary items are covered by the Athletic Department.

Each member of the squad will receive 2 home football and men’s basketball tickets. Tickets to other events, i.e., bowl games, NCAA tournament and Pac-12 tournaments will be issued at the discretion of the Athletic Department. This is subject to change.

In order to try-out for the Cheerleading Squad you must fill out and bring your Tryout Application with an attached photo, acceptance letter to Berkeley (transcript for current students), and a "New Athlete Health History" and proof that you have had a physical in the last six months. You can also go to the University Health Services web site to obtain these forms. You may not participate in try-outs without these completed forms.
